And honestly, if a vendor treats support as a line-item that only big accounts can unlock, they're telling you something about how they'll treat you when something goes wrong. Believe them.
The second pushback is “you can find the answer online.” Yes, and I did. But Google is not a support system. It's a database. When the answer requires judgment—when your lighting is weird, your oven is drifting, or your micrometer won't turn off—you need a human who knows the equipment. Documentation is a feature. Responsiveness is a feature. Treating a small customer as if he might become a large one is good business sense.

So here's my position: small orders deserve serious equipment, serious support, and serious vendors. Not someday. Not when the budget grows. The first order is exactly when you need it most.
